الفعل tradurre من التصريف الثالث (ينتهي بـ -urre) وهو شاذّ لأنه مشتقّ من اللاتينية traducere. في المضارع يُصرَّف على أصل traduc-: traduco، traduci، traduce. واسم المفعول tradotto شاذّ، والماضي البعيد tradussi، والمستقبل tradurrò بحذف حرف العلّة. نقول tradurre dall'arabo all'italiano (الترجمة من العربية إلى الإيطالية)، وtradurre un documento (ترجمة وثيقة).

ملاحظات
· Note grammaticali
تَرْجَمَ è un verbo quadrilittero di forma I (schema فَعْلَلَ) dalla radice ت-ر-ج-م, di probabile origine aramaica o accadica. Come tutti i quadrilitteri, nell'imperfetto prende il prefisso con la damma (يُتَرْجِمُ) e il masdar regolare segue lo schema فَعْلَلَة (تَرْجَمَة). La stessa radice dà il nome del traduttore o interprete, مُتَرْجِم e تُرْجُمَان, da cui l'italiano «turcimanno» e «dragomanno». Per il passaggio da una lingua all'altra si dice تَرْجَمَ مِنَ الإِيطَالِيَّةِ إِلَى العَرَبِيَّةِ; nei documenti si parla di «traduzione giurata», تَرْجَمَة مُحَلَّفَة.

تَرْجَمَ فعلٌ رباعيٌّ مجرّد على وزن فَعْلَلَ من الجذر ت-ر-ج-م. يُضمّ حرف المضارعة في الرباعي المجرّد (يُتَرْجِمُ) ويُكسر ما قبل الآخر. مصدره القياسي تَرْجَمَة على وزن فَعْلَلَة، واسم الفاعل مُتَرْجِم واسم المفعول مُتَرْجَم. ويُشتقّ من الجذر نفسه التُّرْجُمَان بمعنى المفسّر الناقل من لغة إلى أخرى. ويتعدّى الفعل بحرف الجر «من» و«إلى»: تَرْجَمَ الوَثِيقَةَ مِنَ الإِيطَالِيَّةِ إِلَى العَرَبِيَّةِ.
